KAJIKA
by Toriyama Akira
Started in #32, 1998 (concluded in #44)

Overview: Kajika is a boy cursed by a fox to save 1,000 lives. He was asked by a girl named Haya to
deliver the egg of the last dragon back to its native island (Lonlon
Island), and keep it away from the hands of Gibachi, an evil
entrepreneur who wants the egg to gain immense power. According to
legend, one who drinks the blood of a dragon is to have powers
unmatched by mortals.
In this update: The dragon hatches, and Kajika
asks Donko to feed it because he can't kill bugs to feed the dragon.
Meanwhile, Gibachi had a homing device on the egg's protector.
Gibachi finds the dragon, shoots, and takes its blood. Upon drinking
the blood, his body starts to change. The new Gibachi effectively
beats up Kajika and Isaza. Haya arrives on the scene just in time.
She returns the pill Kajika gave her to use on the dragon. Kajika
feeds the dragon the pill, and he is freed from his curse. But
there's something odd about Gibachi....
HUNTER x HUNTER
by Togashi Yoshihiro
Started in #14, 1998 (2 volumes available)

Overview: Gon is a young energetic boy who wants to follow in
his father's footsteps as a hunter. He, along with his new friends
Reolio and Clapika, take the Hunter Qualification Exam.
In this update: The fourth test
is hunting fellow exam-takers, or rather, hunting for their
number-plates. Gon's target happens to be Hisoka. Gon, after much
thought of how to grab Hisoka's number-plate with his fishing hook,
realizes that the best opportunity was when Hisoka was after HIS prey.
MEIRYOUTEI GOTO SEIJUROU
by Kazu Hajime
Started in #52, 1997 (3 volumes available)

Overview: Seijurou is the reckless, violent student body
president of Meiryou High School. He is so feared that his nickname
is Meiryoutei ("Emperor of Meiryou"). What havoc will he wreak on
his students (or force his student council to do) this time?
In this update: The bout between Seijurou and
Kiichi turns out to be at Tokyo Dome. Kasumi explains to Cliff
and Hayata the reason why Seijurou is so set on defeating Kiichi.
Meanwhile, Kiichi's father reminds Kiichi that his brother was a
loser. The day of the fight, Kiichi notes that the ring, the
arena was against his sense of justice; but Seijurou comments that
Kiichi's justice is form without substance. Kiichi attacks but
can't hurt Seijurou at all. Seijurou notes that Kiichi's kind of
"justice" disgusts him. Kiichi is reminded of his brother with
Seijurou's comment. Seijurou ends up winning the fight.
ONE PIECE
by Oda Eiichiro
Started in #34, 1997 (5 volumes available)

Overview: Ruffy is a boy cursed with a body that stretches
like rubber. He becomes a pirate in search of the Grand Line, a
sea route to the ultimate treasure known as One Piece.
In this update: Creek says he
wants to take over Baratie not only for the ship, but for Zeff's log
of sailing the Grand Line. Patty and Carne attack with a rowboat
annex to Baratie, but Creek throws them back. Sanji commences to
kick the collective butts of Creek's fleet. Pearl, leader of Creek's
secondary fleet, comes on the scene. Creek cracks Ruffy's
life-support mast, and as a result Pearl's head gets sandwiched
between Sanji's foot and Ruffy's back, causing the shield-covered man
to draw a nosebleed. Pearl lights the deck on fire as a means of
protecting himself. Creek and Zeff move to protect the ship (each for
their own want of the ship). Pearl is further injured when a pillar
accidentally falls on top of him. Gin stops Sanji by taking Zeff
hostage.
